The popularity of the word governance has had its ups and downs. It seems that until recently the word had a fairly good press, generally associated with progress in human organisations. With the scandals of the past year, it has become the slogan of the vigilantes. And with several simultaneous scandals, the word was so widely used that it ended up being worn out and nothing positive was associated with it. \u2018Governance\u2019 is now akin to a tedious process that reduces the number of mandates of boards and committees. If you try to promote information governance these days, the mere mention of the word in a sentence inevitably stresses out the person you are talking to.<\/p>\n

The good news, however, is that there are plenty of free mandates in information governance. In fact, I advocate appointing people to be responsible for each organisation’s key information assets. The primary mission of these managers is to ensure that the organisation’s important information is secure, accessible, shared and, above all, of high quality. Too many organisations are still faced with problems caused by missing and\/or incorrect information, and are having difficulty resolving them because no one has been appointed to be responsible for the information.<\/p>\n

With the GDPR, the DPO is the first information officer to become mandatory in a large number of organisations.<\/p>\n

This is a major step forward, because we need to protect personal data and control the processes that use it. But it goes further than personal data, of course.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Finally, governance is going to be introduced via the regulations on the protection of private data, without us even having to deliberate about it. As a promoter of information governance, I’m delighted about this, and with my colleagues and partners we wish long life to the DPOs.<\/p>\n

La popularit\u00e9 du mot gouvernance a eu ses hauts et ses bas. ll semble que le mot avait jusqu\u2019il y a peu plut\u00f4t bonne presse, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement associ\u00e9 \u00e0 des d\u00e9marches de progr\u00e8s en organisations humaines. Avec les scandales de l\u2019ann\u00e9e pass\u00e9e, il est devenu le slogan des justiciers. Et avec plusieurs scandales simultan\u00e9s, le mot a \u00e9t\u00e9 tellement diffus\u00e9 qu\u2019il a fini par s\u2019user et plus rien de positif n\u2019y a \u00e9t\u00e9 associ\u00e9. \u00ab Gouvernance \u00bb s\u2019apparente maintenant \u00e0 un processus p\u00e9nible qui r\u00e9duit le nombre de mandats des conseils et comit\u00e9s. Si vous tentez aujourd\u2019hui de promouvoir la gouvernance de l\u2019information, la seule occurrence du mot dans une phrase stresse immanquablement votre interlocuteur.<\/p>\r\n

La bonne nouvelle pourtant, c\u2019est qu\u2019il y a plein de mandats libres en gouvernance de l\u2019information. Je plaide en effet pour que l\u2019on d\u00e9signe des responsables pour les assets informationnels importants de chaque organisation. La premi\u00e8re mission de ces responsables est que l\u2019information importante de l\u2019organisation soit s\u00e9curis\u00e9e, accessible, partag\u00e9e mais aussi et surtout soit de qualit\u00e9. Trop d\u2019organisations sont en effet toujours confront\u00e9es \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes dus \u00e0 des informations manquantes et\/ou incorrectes et sont dans la difficult\u00e9 de les r\u00e9soudre parce que personne n\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 responsable de l\u2019information.<\/p>\r\n

Avec le GDPR, le DPO est le\u00a0premier mandat informationnel\u00a0devenu obligatoire dans un bon nombre d\u2019organisation.<\/p>\r\n

C\u2019est un grand pas en avant, il faut en effet prot\u00e9ger les donn\u00e9es personnelles et contr\u00f4ler les traitements qui les utilisent. Mais cela va plus loin que les donn\u00e9es personnelles \u00e9videmment.<\/blockquote>\r\n

Finalement la gouvernance va s\u2019inviter via la r\u00e9glementation sur la protection des donn\u00e9es priv\u00e9es sans qu\u2019on ai eu \u00e0 en d\u00e9lib\u00e9rer. Comme promoteur de la gouvernance informationnelle j\u2019en suis ravi et avec mes coll\u00e8gues et partenaires nous souhaitons longues vies aux DPOs.<\/p>\r\n
