2019 Serda report on information governance

This 8th annual report on the governance of digital information in organizations (public and private sectors) carried out by the Serda group highlights that access and sharing of information and knowledge remains the first need of the organizations surveyed. Indeed, the multiplicity of document access paths (at the origin of the loss of information search time) leads to the will to implement solutions allowing a single point of access to information and documents:

The scattering of content management solutions (GED, GEC, BAL, ECM, CSR, business applications, ...) has increased from 39 to 52% in 2 years [...].

Among the concerns of this year 2019, we note that the long-term preservation and the valuation of the information capital confirm the new challenges of the implementation of an information governance. In addition, the legal and regulatory constraints (eg GDPR) are real levers for initiating information governance initiatives. However, the development of documentary policies and the formalization of rules and documentary procedures are the main means of implementation to the detriment of the accompaniment of change.

As for the professions of information and documentation professionals, the documentary function is still poorly recognized within organizations. We are therefore entitled to ask ourselves how to ensure the successful deployment and maintenance of information governance? And how to guarantee the adherence of users who benefit? Do you think that only a documentary procedure encourages the engagement of people in new documentary practices?

You can find a summary of this report in the archimag webinar on May 23rd.
